Their testimonies can be found in Area 08, Italians on the Move.
Not only evangelising new peoples, but also accompanying Italian emigrants in their new life abroad: for centuries this has been the mission of many religious congregations operating throughout the world. Many nuns involved in this field have experienced unprecedented forms of freedom of movement throughout history.
According to the data of the first Conference of Italian missionaries in the world, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in October 2021, there are 7000 Italian missionaries abroad. About 4000 are consecrated members of religious orders, while about 3000 are lay people.
They work on every continent, especially in the world's fringes, in complex and often risky contexts, driven by faith to bear witness to love for every person.
